Job Description
Job Purpose: The Dry Mill Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient production of ethanol and associated co-products in our 65 MGY ICM technology dry grind facility.
The following is a list of major duties and responsibilities for this position along with certain supportive duties. It is not all-inclusive. Other duties and responsibilities may be added as needed and in addition, management may modify this job description as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Ensure the various processes are operated within safety and environmental guidelines.
• Supervise hourly workforce as needed to ensure alignment with specified goals.
• Identify and correct process deviations to maintain operational parameters.
• Employee training.
• Writing and verification of permits, forms, reports, check sheets, round sheets, etc.
• Ensure SOPs are accurate and followed.
• Overall process optimization.
• Ensure all products are manufactured within quality specifications.
• Communicate with maintenance department to ensure repair and availability of equipment.
• Allocate available utilities and resources to maximize rates and yields.
• Fill in for Dry Mill Manager or take on special assignments as needed.
Job Requirements
Position Requirements:
• 4-year college degree in scientific related field or equivalent combination of experience and education
• Dry Mill experience preferred including a thorough understanding and competency in all operating functions of the facility including cook, fermentation, distillation, and drying
• Previous Lab experience/understanding of lab procedures
• Previous supervisory experience preferred
• Demonstrated ability to improve work performance and drive change with an unrelenting spirit of continuous improvement
• Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively teach new concepts to employees with varying backgrounds and skill sets
• Ability to plan and organize the work of others
• Ability to delegate and meet deadlines
• Writing and basic computer proficiency
• Ability to work off shifts
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills utilizing data to make the best business decisions
• Ability to handle multiple tasks
Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to work in cold to hot temperatures; work around dust, fumes, and/or moderate to loud noises; works inside and/or outside;
• Able to climb stairs and ladders; walk on paved and unpaved surfaces; sit at a desk and operate a computer and keyboard; visual acuity to review written documentation; ability to hear, speak, and understand speech at normal room levels and on the telephone; manual dexterity to operate a telephone; lift horizontally and vertically, bend, stoop, stand, and reach;
• Ability to work at elevated heights
• Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
