Motiva Enterprises LLC and Canadian National Railway (CN) each made moves to expand their biofuels handling capacities in the northeastern United States. Motiva recently opened a new rail yard at its 1.5 million-barrel refined products terminal in Providence, R.I. The facility can receive more than 1 million barrels of ethanol per day. CN opened a 150-acre biofuels terminal in Auburn, Maine, accessible by two refined products terminals run by Irving Oil and Sprague Energy. The CN terminal handles ethanol and biodiesel storage, and is outfitted with truck-loading stations capable of moving 450 gallons per minute.
