Seeking to find a way around regulatory roadblocks in bringing fuel ethanol to Florida year-round, state regulators and potential ethanol blenders will meet this week in a rules workshop that could be a step toward altering language in the state’s T-50 specification that is currently preventing widespread ethanol use in the summer.
Current concerns over fuel volatility in summer conditions keep large-scale blending. A change in current regulatory language could make summertime blending more widespread and increase use overall as blending economics are favorable now and high supplies of fuel ethanol through the winter could keep economics favorable.
