Airgas Inc., the largest distributor of industrial, medical and specialty gases in the United States, has agreed to build a 450-ton-per-day liquid carbon dioxide plant at First United Ethanol LLC, a 100 MMgy ethanol plant in Camilla, Ga. The carbon dioxide facility will refine the ethanol coproduct for use in the food, commercial and beverage industries. Airgas expects the refinery to be operational by late 2009. The ethanol plant is scheduled to begin operating in October.
