The Renewable Fuels Association and Renewable Fuels Foundation have announced the availability of six student scholarships to 19th Annual National Ethanol Conference in Orlando, Fla. Feb. 17-19. Applications will be accepted through Dec. 13.

According to the RFA, the scholarships will cover the $790 registration fee, making the conference free to scholarship winners. Recipients are responsible for other costs associated with travel, including airfare, hotel and non-conference meals. However, the RFA notes that additional financial assistance may be available to scholarship winners at the discretion of the RFF and RFA.

To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be attending a U.S. institution of higher learning and be enrolled in an approved ethanol-related program. In addition to a filling out an application form, interested students must also provide a 500 word essay that explains how the scholarship will assist in achieving academic or career goals. Applicants must also provide a list of all academic and professional renewable energy experiences, education or training, along with a current resume, official school transcript, and two letters of recommendation.

“The National Ethanol Conference is a unique opportunity for students to engage and interact with leading experts in the field,” said Mike Jerke, general manager of Chippewa Valley Ethanol Co. and chairman of the RFF. “As leaders in the ethanol industry today, it is our responsibility to educate and prepare the next generation of ethanol producers. This conference will give students a real world view of the industry and a foot in the door towards a future in ethanol production.”
