The U.S. EPA has published renewable identification number (RIN) generation data for November, reporting that both D3 cellulosic biofuel and D7 cellulosic diesel RINs were generated during the month.
According to the EPA, 59,119 D3 cellulosic biofuel RINs were generated in November, representing 39,412 gallons of biofuel. An additional 59,094 D7 cellulosic diesel RINs were generated for 34,761 gallons of fuel. In the first 11 months of the year, a total of 353,373 D3 and 328,354 D7 RINs were generated on a net basis. To date, all 2013 D3 RINs were generated for cellulosic renewable gasoline, while all E7 RINs were generated for cellulosic diesel. All cellulosic RINs were generated domestically.
EPA data indicates that 97.68 million D5 advanced biofuel RINs were generated November, bringing the total for the first 11 months of the year to 535.52 million D5 RINs on a net basis. Approximately 442.17 million D5 RINs were generated for ethanol, with 24.29 million generated for biogas and 2.32 million for naptha. In addition, approximately 69.1 million D5 RINs were produced for non-ester renewable diesel. More than 116.62 million D5 RINs were generated domestically, with 421.22 million generated by importers.
Approximately 253.28 million D4 biomass-based diesel RINs were generated in November. The total for the first 11 months of the year was 2.38 billion RINs on a net basis. The majority, more than 2 billion, were generated for biodiesel, with the balance generated for non-ester renewable diesel. More than 1.92 billion were generated domestically, with 207.58 million and 261.2 million generated by importers and foreign producers, respectively.
The EPA also reported that nearly 1.15 billion D6 renewable fuel RINs were generated in November, bringing the total for the first 11 months of the year to more than 12.07 billion. Most D6 RINs, 11.89 billion, were generated for ethanol, with 32 million generated for biodiesel and 170.82 million generated for non-ester renewable diesel. The majority, nearly 11.9 billion, were generated by domestic producers, with 26.87 million generated by importers and 170.83 generate by foreign producers.
The EPA currently estimate 15.02 billion RINs were generated so far in 2013, with 459.59 million of those locked and available and 14.32 billion unlocked and available.
