ADM's Peoria plant continues operations following minor fire

A Peoria, Illinois-based ethanol plant owned by Archer Daniels Midland Co. is continuing operations after a minor fire was reported on Sept. 22.

According to information released by an ADM spokeswoman, at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 22 an evaporator vessel that was down for repairs caught fire at the company’s corn processing plant in Peoria. The sprinkler system activated and contained the fire. Employees also contact the Peoria fire department for additional assistance. The spokeswoman indicated there were no injuries and the plant is continuing to run as planned.

Ethanol Producer Magazine’s online plant map currently lists the capacity of the Peoria facility as undisclosed. ADM also operates ethanol plants in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Clinton, Iowa; Columbus, Nebraska; Decatur, Illinois; and Marshall, Minnesota. According to information published by ADM, the company has the capacity to produce approximately 1.8 billion gallons of ethanol per year.
