UNICA releases updated ethanol production data

UNICA, the Brazilian sugarcane industry association recently announced mills in the country’s south-central region produced 18.06 billion liters (4.77 billion gallons) of ethanol from the beginning of the current season through mid-September.

According to UNICA, mills in the region processed 37.67 tons of sugarcane during the first half of September, with sugar production at 2.4 million tons and ethanol production at 1.60 billion liters, including 705.3 million liters of anhydrous ethanol and 893.8 million liters of hydrous ethanol.

Since the beginning of the current season, UNICA said mills in the region have processed 431.32 million tons of sugarcane. Sugar production has reached 24.82 million tons, with ethanol production at 18.06 billion liters, including 7.44 billion liters of anhydrous ethanol and 10.61 billion liters of hydrous ethanol.

Ethanol sales by mills in the south-central region totaled 1.17 billion liters during the first half of September. According to UNICA, 1.08 billion liters were sold domestically and 88.26 million liters were destined for export. Domestically, 406.38 million liters of anhydrous ethanol were sold, along with 679.10 million liters of hydrous ethanol.
