The Surface Transportation Board has announced it will hold a meeting of the Rail Energy Transportation Advisory Committee on April 26 in Washington, D.C.

The committee was first formed in 2007 and is designed to provide advance and guidance to the STB and serve as a forum for the discussion of emerging issues related to the transportation of energy resources by rail, including ethanol, other biofuels and coal.

A notice published in the Federal Register explains that the purpose for the April 26 meeting is to continue discussions related to rail performance, capacity constraints, infrastructure planning and development, and effective coordination among suppliers, carriers, and users of energy resources.

The notice also states potential agenda items for the meeting include a performance measure review, industry segment updates by RETAC members, a presentation on energy transportation logistics and a roundtable discussion.

The meeting is open to the public. Members of the public may also submit written comments to the committee. Additional information is available on the Federal Register website.
