DDGS marketers utilize computer software to manage inventory, logistics, quality control

Background: AgMotion, a "total solution provider for multiple levels of the agri-food supply chain," has provided at least two major U.S. marketers of DDGS with windows-based software that helps the companies manage product inventory, logistics, and quality control. The St. Paul, Minn.-based company serves the technology, commodity, and risk management needs of processors, manufacturers, growers and logistics providers within the food, grain and feed industries. AgMotion Technologies, a division of AgMotion, Inc., attempts to create technology solutions that help agri-food and other commodity-driven businesses achieve greater efficiency and cost-savings across the board.

Specifying the Equipment: AgMotion Software is a web-deployed application intended to help commodity-driven organizations control costs and operate more efficiently. AgMotion's suite of software products manages the marketing, procurement, logistics and tracking aspects of the supply chain, while integrating with a variety of financial packages.

Testimony: Land O' Lakes is the second major U.S. marketer of DDGS to select AgMotion Technologies as its e-business application partner to support its Grain and Ingredient Trading Group. The company will begin using the software in October.

Land O' Lakes, Inc. is a $6 Billion (Sales) national food and agricultural cooperative serving family farmers from the East Coast to the West Coast. Headquartered in Arden Hills, Minn., Land O' Lakes is a leading marketer of feed, seed, plant food and crop protection products in North America. The company purchases, markets, distributes and sells DDGS nationwide.

According to AgMotion, Dakota Commodities, a division of Broin Companies, has been using AgMotion Software for over six months. Broin builds and operates ethanol plants and markets ethanol and ethanol coproducts.

AMS is helping to support Broin's Dakota Gold Certification Program, a "brand-building and identity preservation system" where end-users can make sure they are getting Broin's premium quality "Dakota Gold" brand DDGS, even if they purchase Dakota Gold through a re-seller. According to AgMotion, end-users will access proprietary data regarding each shipment via a secure Internet connection using a unique tracking identifier.
