The Surface Transportation Board published a notice Sept. 25 announcing it intends to renew the charter of the Rail Energy Transportation Advisory Committee.

RETAC was established by the STB in September 2008 to provide advice and guidance to the STB on a continuing basis and to provide a forum for the discussion of emerging issues and concerns regarding the rail transportation of energy resources, including biofuels.

According to the notice, RETAC consists of approximately 25 voting members, excluding governmental representatives. At least four members must represent biofuel feedstock growers and providers, and biofuel refiners, processors or distributors. The committee meets at least twice a year and meetings are open to the public.
