Genencor International Inc. this month said it acquired Paris-based Rhodia's brewing and enzyme business for approximately $9.4 million. The Palo Alto-based diversified biotechnology, which serves the health care, agri-processing, industrial and consumer markets, said the acquisition includes technology, product lines and personnel. The deal will broaden the company's product portfolio and technical service capabilities in the food, feed and specialty enzyme markets. The acquisition follows Genencor's purchase in February of Enzyme Bio-Systems from Corn Products International, which added growth in key markets including the grain processing, ethanol, specialties and food sectors.
