In mid-February, Brookings, S.D.-based U.S. BioEnergy Corp. named Brian Thome as the company's new president, a position previously undertaken by CEO Gordon Ommen, according to U.S. BioEnergy Communications Director Kristi Lee. Thome had been a director since U.S. BioEnergy's relatively recent beginnings. Previously, Thome served Fagen Inc. as the company's director of financial investments. As president, Thome will be instrumental in facilitating the company's expected rapid growth.

U.S. BioEnergy also hired Kent Brown to act as plant manager at U.S .Bio Woodbury, an ethanol plant under construction in Lake Odessa, Mich. Brown spent the past four years as operations manager at ethanol production plant Golden Triangle Energy Co-op Inc. in Craig, Mo., where he also worked as both an operator and chief mechanical operator.
