BNSF plans ethanol expansion

By | June 01, 2006
BNSF Railway has expressed plans to expand its successful Ethanol Express program to other regions of the United States, according to spokeswoman Suann Lundsberg. Although the plans aren't finalized, a late March media report claimed BNSF was considering an ethanol distribution system from the Midwest to north Texas. The Ethanol Express was formed in 2003 to ship ethanol via 90-car trains to California after that state banned MTBE. Last year, BNSF shipped 32,000 carloads of ethanol nationally.
