EU: Four countries not meeting biofuels directive

By | June 01, 2006
According to the European Union (EU), the European Commission has sent formal notifications to Finland, Denmark, Luxembourg and Italy that convey concern for those countries' lack of participation in the EU biofuels directive. The notices state that Finland and Denmark have set targets considerably lower than the 2 percent goal. Luxembourg was cited for submitting an incomplete biofuels report for 2005, and Italy failed to submit the report altogether. The commission may decide to bring them before the Court of Justice in Luxembourg and ask for monetary penalties to be imposed.
