Pavilion Technologies, producer of model-based software, was awarded 15 new patents for innovations in the field of modeling, optimization and control, increasing the company's total number of patents to 156. Twelve of the 15 new patents are applicable to the ethanol industry. "We definitely see the biofuels market as one of our top three markets in the U.S., and it is our fastest-growing vertical market," said Amy George, Pavilion's director of marketing. The new innovation patents, some of which took several years to acquire, allow manufacturers to improve production processes—thus increasing output and enhancing quality—ultimately reducing variable costs, according to the company.
