MGPI shuffles top execs

MGP Ingredients Inc. (MGPI) announced at its recent stockholders meeting that Ladd M. Seaberg would be taking on the role of chairman, in addition to his current role of CEO, beginning in mid-October. Former Chairman Cloud L. Cray stepped down after a 26-year tenure, but remained on the board of directors. Cray has been with the Atchison, Kan.-based company since 1942. Seaberg has served as MGPI president since 1980 and CEO since 1988.

MGPI also announced the promotion of COO Tim Newkirk to president. Newkirk has held a number of positions with the company, including project engineer, quality control manager and manager of MGPI's Pekin, Ill., ethanol plant.
