Hawaii governor may renew ethanol tax break

By | June 05, 2007
In early May, the Hawaii legislature passed a bill to reinstate an excise tax exemption for ethanol-blended fuel. The tax break is taken at the pump and would provide some relief for drivers. The exemption expired Dec. 31, 2006, and since that time, Hawaii's pump prices have risen to fourth-highest in the country. Although Gov. Linda Lingle supports the exemption, the bill is only one part of a package that she is currently reviewing. She has until July 10 to take action.
