Poet-Cloverdale to host post-FEW tour

By Susanne Retka Schill | May 26, 2011

Poet Biorefining-Cloverdale (Ind.) will host a tour following the 2011 International Fuel Ethanol Workshop being held June 27-30 in Indianapolis, Ind. Tour participants will hear about the enhancements that Poet LLC made to the facility acquired a year ago. The 90 million gallon per year facility was built and briefly operated by Altra Biofuels before closing in 2008.

The approximately $30 million in upgrades include BPX, Poet's patented fermentation process which uses enzymes instead of heat, reducing energy use by 10 to 15 percent. In addition, Poet installed a water recovery system that virtually eliminates water discharge and new pollution control equipment. The facility celebrated its grand opening event on March 15 and began operations on March 22.

Following the tour, participants will enjoy a barbecue lunch and will be able to interact with plant personnel, equipment vendors and other tour guests. For more information and to sign up for the tour, visit the conference website
