The U.S. EPA has published data on renewable identification numbers (RINs) generated under the renewable fuel standard (RFS) during February 2013. No D3 cellulosic biofuel RINs were generated during the month. However, 937.62 million D6 renewable fuel and 32.03 million D5 advanced biofuel RINs were generated.

During the first two months of 2013, more than 1.96 billion D6 renewable fuel RINs were generated for ethanol production. Biodiesel is the only other fuel that produced D6 RINs during the period, generating only 18,434 D6 RINs.

Nearly 82.39 million D5 advanced biofuel RINs were generated during January and February for ethanol production. Other fuels generating D5 RINs included biogas and non-ester renewable diesel.

Only 5.96 million D5 RINs were generated domestically in January and February. More than 78.82 million were generated my importers during the two-month period. All 1.96 billion D6 renewable fuel RINs were generated domestically in January and February.

According to data published by the EPA, approximately 383.19 million assigned D6 RINs and 1.49 separated D6 RINs were available as of the close of February.
