U.S. fuel ethanol production was down 2 percent the week ending Aug. 18, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Aug. 23. Ethanol stocks were down nearly 3 percent while exports were up 19 percent.&nbsp;Fuel ethanol production averaged 1.048 million barrels per day the week ending Aug. 18, down 21,000 barrels per day when compared to the 1.069 million barrels per day of production reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, production for the week ending Aug. 18 was up 61,000 barrels per day.&nbsp;Weekly ending stocks of fuel ethanol fell to 22.79 million barrels the week ending Aug. 18, down 645,000 barrels when compared to the 23.435 million barrels of stocks reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, stocks for the week ending Aug. 18 were down 1.017 million barrels.&nbsp;Ethanol exports averaged 94,000 barrels per day the week ending Aug. 18, up 15,000 barrels per day when compared to the 79,000 barrels per day of exports reported for the previous week. Data on weekly ethanol exports is not available for the corresponding week of 2022 as the EIA began reporting weekly data on fuel ethanol exports in June 2023. According to EIA data, no fuel ethanol imports were reported for the week ending Aug. 18.
