Trump teases work on policy package to boost ethanol


President Donald Trump issued a tweet Aug. 29 suggesting his administration is working on a “giant package” to boost demand for ethanol. He did not indicate what the timeframe for the release of that package might be.

EIA: US ethanol plant nameplate capacity up in 2019


The U.S. Energy Information Administration released updated data on U.S. ethanol plant capacity on Aug. 26. The number of ethanol plants remained stable between 2018 and 2019, but total nameplate capacity was up slightly.

Oregon plant could produce ethanol from wheat


Global Partners LP recently filed for a renewal of its air quality permit at its Columbia Pacific Bio-Refinery in Clatskanie, Oregon. The permit could allow the plant to use wheat as its feedstock in addition to the more traditional corn.

UNICA, the Brazilian sugarcane industry association, has announced ethanol production during the first half of August was up more than 20 percent when compared to the same period of last year. The volume of sugarcane milled was also up.
