AGE85 group finds ethanol provides more power

By | March 01, 2006
The Aviation Grade Ethanol (AGE85) group recently flew a Mooney aircraft from South Dakota to Texas, in order to test an ethanol-based fuel and determine power ratings. AGE85 reported the engine produced 5 percent more power running on E85. The group used a Laboe, a large torque meter bolted between the crankshaft and the propeller, to measure the amount of power the propeller was producing.
