Louisiana-based Group Oxus Ltd. has launched, an online marketplace for biofuels and biomass industry members to sell or buy feedstocks, finished products, materials and services.

Group Oxus founder Robert Grimes said the online marketplace will be unique because it will include a human element. "We will actively take a part in assisting the parties in developing the transaction," Grimes said. Listings of both offers to sell or buy will be verified, with the contact and background information kept private and revealed upon approval. All offers and inquiries are prescreened to assure they are serious contacts.

Group Oxus was started by Grimes in 1988 as an international trade service to small and mid-size companies. In 2002 a separate division called Daroga Group was established to prove its sourcing services through a network of affiliate offices worldwide. Grimes said that with 30 years of experience in sourcing materials internationally for small and mid-sized companies, he began exploring the use of the internet to make the process more efficient. In 2008 the company refined its focus to concentrate on the growing global renewable energy markets.

"BiofuelsTradeNet is brand new," Grimes added. "We're in the process of getting listed on search engines and getting advertising lined up. It's going to take a few months to develop."

There is no fee for placing a listing, but a commission is paid when deals are closed.
