The Float Shift Supervisor oversees process operators on a 24-hour rotating shift, ensuring safety and production goals are met. They fill in for other Production Shift Supervisors when needed, maintaining operational continuity. The role includes training both new and existing operators, updating standard operating procedures (SOPs), and developing new SOPs to enhance efficiency and compliance. Regular communication with operators is crucial for consistent operations across shifts, along with conducting scheduled inspections to identify issues and reinforce safety standards. The supervisor ensures high-quality product output and interprets QA/QC results to guide lead operators on necessary actions. Additionally, they participate in hiring, performance evaluations, and provide coaching to support employee development while promoting safe working practices.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and at least three years of experience in operating an ethanol plant, chemical plant, or refinery, preferably in a management or supervisory role. They should have hands-on experience with process equipment, process control, and SCADA systems, along with knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations. Proficiency in MS Office and Excel is required, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with employees and departments. The ability to prioritize tasks, work under stress, and make informed decisions is essential for success in this role.
