	Brazil study highlights benefits of mid-level ethanol blends A recent report published in Nature Geoscience claims a 20 percent reduction in ozone when drivers in Brazil switched from ethanol to gasoline. Biofuel groups welcome court of appeals decision on 2013 RFS case The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit has rejected a petition by Monroe Energy LLC challenging the U.S. EPA's 2013 renewable fuel standards (RFS). EIA increases ethanol production forecast May short-term outlook The U.S. Energy Information Administration has slightly increased its ethanol production forecast for this year in the May issue of its Short Term Energy Outlook. Murphy reports Q1 earnings from RINs, Hereford ethanol plant Ethanol still figures in Murphy USA Inc.'s business, as it reported positive earnings from its plant in Texas and from the sale of renewable identification numbers (RINs) in its first quarter financial report, released May 5. Senate bill aims to eliminate all energy tax credits Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, has introduced legislation to eliminate all tax credits for renewable and traditional energy sources. Obama Climate Change report points to bioenergy for forest health The Obama Administration has released a new U.S. National Climate Assessment, which it describes as the most comprehensive scientific climate change assessment ever generated. It was developed over a four-year period. READ MORE SHARE
U.S. ethanol imports from Brazil down in 2013 U.S. imports of sugarcane ethanol from Brazil fell by 40 percent last year, to 242 million gallons. Because Brazil is the largest source of ethanol imports into the United States, this drop led the United States to be a net exporter of the product. READ MORE SHARE
FDA responds to crafter brewers' concerns on FSMA The industry is likely to have another opportunity to look at the Food and Drug Administration's proposed regulations under the Food Safety and Modernization Act. ADM profit increases on strong corn, ethanol profits Archer Daniels Midland Co. recently reported its corn processing and bioproducts division experienced strong operating profit increases in the first quarter of the year. Strong performance in corn was supported by the robust ethanol market, ADM said. READ MORE SHARE
United Cooperative offers E15 at 10 Wisconsin retail stations In a boost to rural communities, Beaver Dam, Wis.-based United Cooperative is offering E15 at 10 stations throughout Wisconsin. Iowa cooperative breaks ground on renewable fuels retail location The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association recently attended Farmers Cooperative Co.'s groundbreaking ceremony at the future site of its new Mount Ayr renewable fuels retail location that will offer higher blends of ethanol and biodiesel to motorists.
