The U.S. Department of Energy Bioenergy Technologies Office has announced it will host a webinar on biofuel affordability on May 27. The event, titled “A Changing Market for Biofuels and Bioproducts,” will address research related to biomass supply.

According to the DOE, the webinar will feature speakers Bryce Stokes with CNJV and Laurence Eaton from Oak Ridge National Laboratory. In addition to discussing the DOE Biotechnology Office’s U.S. Billion-Ton Update report, the speakers will address other research efforts helping to enhance and secure a sustainable annual supply of biomass for the U.S. bioeconomy. The DOE also indicated Salim Morsey from Bloomberg New Energy Finance will preview the Bioenergy 2015 plenary talk on oil and price forecasts and impacts. The full plenary talk is scheduled to take place June 23-24 in Washington, D.C.

The one-hour webinar is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. EDT. Additional information and registration details are available on the DOE’s website

In April, the Bioenergy Technologies Office hosted a webinar on biofuel sustainability featuring presentations by Virginia Dale from Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Christina Negri from Argonne National Laboratory. Slides from that event can be downloaded from the DOE’s website.
