The U.S. exported 120.12 million gallons of ethanol and 834,515 tons of distillers grains in July, according to export data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on Sept. 4. Exports of both products were down when compared to June.
July ethanol exports of 120.12 million gallons were up when compared to the 102.36 million gallons exported in the same month of 2018, but down from 128.42 million gallons exported in June.
According to USDA data, the U.S. exported ethanol to nearly three dozen countries in July. Canada was the top destination for U.S. ethanol exports during the month with 34.8 million gallons, followed by Brazil with 15.83 million gallons and Oman with 12.43 million gallons.
The value of U.S. ethanol exports reached $184.54 million in July, up from $159.29 million July 2018, but down from $212.94 million in June.
During the first seven months of 2019, the U.S. exported 880.07 million gallons of ethanol at a value of $1.42 billion, compared to 1.04 billion gallons at a value of $1.67 billion during the same period of last year.
The U.S. also exported 834,515 tons of distillers grain in July, down from 1.1 million tons in July 2018 and 962,592 tons in June.
The U.S. exported distillers grains to approximately three dozen countries during the month. Mexico was the top destination for U.S. distillers grains in July, with 158.364 tons, followed by Vietnam with 120,136 tons and South Korea with 108,958 tons.
The value of U.S. distillers grains exports reached $169.71 million in July, down from $243.31 million during the same period of 2018 and $200.3 million in June.
During the first seven months of the year, the U.S. exported 6.18 million tons of distillers grains at a value of $1.29 billion, compared to 6.73 million tons at a value of $1.39 billion for the same period of 2018.
