VeraSun acquires three plants, partners with Enterprise

VeraSun Energy Corp. announced plans to acquire three ethanol plants from ASAlliances Biofuels LLC for $725 million. The three 110 MMgy facilities are currently under construction in Albion, Neb., Bloomingburg, Ohio, and Linden, Ind., according to VeraSun CEO Don Endres. The acquisition will increase VeraSun's total production capacity to approximately 1 billion gallons by the end of 2008.

VeraSun also recently collaborated with Enterprise Rent-A-Car to promote the use of VE85, VeraSun's trademarked E85 fuel, in Enterprise's flexible-fuel vehicles.
