Lallemand Inc. is pleased to announce the acquisition of North American Bioproducts Corp. NABC, based in Atlanta, Ga., is a provider of yeast and fermentation adjuncts as well as support and education services to the fuel ethanol industry. In this transaction, Lallemand also acquired NABC’s ancillary businesses; Piedmont Contract Packaging, NABC do Brasil and NABC International.

The acquired companies will be combined with Lallemand’s existing business, Lallemand Ethanol Technology, to form a new, larger business unit of the Specialties Division of Lallemand, which is led by Bill Nankervis, based in Toulouse, France.

This new Business Unit, yet to be named, will be headquartered in Atlanta and managed by NABC founder Kevin Dailey.

“This transaction underscores Lallemand’s commitment to continued investment to better serve the biofuels and distilled beverage markets worldwide,” said Jean Chagnon, president of Lallemand

“We are very pleased to have the opportunity to bring together two successful companies,” said Bill Nankervis, president of Lallemand’s Specialties Division. “This will increase our market reach and enhance our capability to commercialize new technologies such as the TransFerm yeast. Our customers and our people, as always, will remain top priorities throughout the merger process”.

“NABC and LET are both respected in the marketplace, sharing the mission of delivering high quality products, service and education to the fuel ethanol and distilled beverage industries. Together, we will be a more attractive and exciting company for our employees, and a more resourceful partner for our customers,” said Dailey, president of the new business unit, which is now a global leader in providing yeast and fermentation ingredients to the fuel ethanol and distilled beverage industries.

Lallemand is a privately held Canadian company specializing in the research, development, production, marketing and distribution of yeast and bacteria. Lallemand has approximately 2,400 employees located in more than 36 countries on 5 continents.
