PCC Hydrogen Inc.

PCC Hydrogen (Louisville, KY) developed a patented technology that enables the production of negative-carbon intensity hydrogen from ethanol via a catalytic oxidative reforming process. With CCS, the technology can qualify for the Clean Hydrogen Production Tax Credit (45V) and D6 RINs at a ratio of 2 RIN/gallon ethanol. Through this process, bio-ethanol becomes a renewable and sustainable energy source for hydrogen production. One of the key advantages of ethanol is its potential as a hydrogen carrier due to its relatively high hydrogen content (132 g H2/gal) This makes it a more effective carrier than other popular options such as methanol, ammonia and liquid hydrogen (!). With the existing infrastructure and logistical framework, this is an important advantage of ethanol when it comes to providing hydrogen at the point of need. With an annual production capacity of 17.7 billion gallons in the US, ethanol has the potential to play a significant role in the renewable energy space.

Twelve

Twelve is the carbon transformation company on a mission to eliminate global emissions and build a fossil-free future. Carbon transformation uses CO2 to displace fossil fuels as a feedstock. Opus, Twelve’s revolutionary carbon transformation technology, works like industrial photosynthesis. It transforms CO2, water, and renewable energy into hydrocarbons, the building blocks for essential chemicals, materials, and fuels. Twelve can make the same chemicals, materials, and fuels from CO2 that are conventionally made from fossil fuels. Twelve's E-Jet® SAF is a Power-to-Liquid SAF, also known as e-SAF, which is fuel made from CO2, water, and renewable energy, resulting in up to 90% lower lifecycle emissions compared to conventional jet fuel derived from oil. E-Jet® SAF uses up to 1,000 times less water and 30 times less land than biofuels and other SAF options on the market. Looking to learn more about SAF - download our "Know Your SAF: Guide to Sustainable Aviation Fuels" by visiting: https://www.twelve.co/newsletter
