OpX Control has optimized/tuned over 1,800 control loops in 80+ weeks at over 40 ethanol plants, with an average 47.8% reduction in range of control /deviation from setpoint. This is done through model-based loop/valve tuning, identification of valve problems (stiction/hysteresis) measurement problems, and tuning to break interactions. Advanced Regulatory Control (ARC) strategies have been implemented at many of these sites, effectively replacing APC. ARC include functions done in the DCS such as feed-forward, constraint, decoupling control, gain-scheduling, and set point ramping.
