The Senate Agriculture Committee on Aug. 6 failed to advance the Agricultural Act of 2026, commonly referred to as the Farm Bill. Committee members are expected to continue work on the legislation when the Senate reconvenes in mid-September.

U.S. fuel ethanol production fell by 2% the week ending July 31, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Aug. 5. Stocks of fuel ethanol fell by 1% while exports expanded by 46%.
National Sorghum Producers on Aug. 5 called on members of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry to preserve permanent nationwide, year-round E15 language in the Agricultural Act of 2026 and advance the Farm Bill.
Nebraska drivers bought more gallons of E15 fuel in 2025, a nearly 45% jump from the year before. The increase comes as Nebraska corn farmers continue to invest checkoff dollars in fuel infrastructure needed to make higher ethanol blends available.
