CARB on Nov. 8 approved updates to its LCFS that aim to reduce the CI of the state’s transportation fuel by 30% by 2030. The updates also alter how a variety of biofuels, including biobased diesel and RNG, participate in the program.
Among the current primary focus areas for the U.S. Grains Council are sustainable aviation fuel, building and expanding global markets and encouraging parallels between U.S. carbon programs and others around the world.
U.S. fuel ethanol exporters are on track to export a record amount of the fuel in 2024. The increase in exports this year has largely been driven by demand in countries with biofuel blending mandates and cheaper-than-usual U.S. fuel ethanol prices.
U.S. fuel ethanol production expanded by 2% the week ending Nov. 1, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Nov. 6. Ethanol stocks were up 1% and exports were up 82%.
The U.S. exported 148.49 million gallons of ethanol and 1.01 million metric tons of distillers grains in September, according to data released by the USDA on Nov. 5. Exports of ethanol were up, while exports of distillers grains were down slightly.
