On its path to opening a facility designed to turn agriculture residue into a scalable biofuel business, SAFFiRE Renewables LLC plans to break ground on its pilot plant near Liberal, Kansas, in late 2024.
LanzaTech Global Inc. on May 9 announced that that LanzaJet’s 10 MMgy ethanol-to-sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) plant in Soperton, Georgia, in on track to begin producing fuel during the second quarter.
Gevo Inc. released Q1 results on May 2, reporting that the company’s RNG project operated at approximately 89% of capacity during the quarter and that efforts continue to secure a DOE loan guarantee for the company’s proposed SAF project.
Leaders of the U.S. ethanol industry are seeking to intervene in a legal challenge of the ReFuelEU Aviation Regulation, which effectively bans the use of renewable, crop-based biofuels like corn ethanol as a feedstock for SAF.
