UNICA, the Brazilian sugarcane industry association, has announced sugarcane processing and ethanol production by mills in the south-central region of the country were both up during the first half of July. Ethanol sales, however, were down during the two-week period.Mills in the south-central region processed 48.37 million metric tons of sugarcane during the first half of July, up 4.21 percent when compared to the same period of last year. Total sugarcane processing since the beginning of the current harvest season, which began April 1, reached 258.25 million metric tons, up 10.1 percent when compared to the same period of last year.&nbsp;Mills in the region produced 2.26 billion liters (597.03 million gallons) of ethanol during the first half of July, up 1.36 percent when compared to the same period of last year. Production included 1.3 billion liters of hydrous ethanol, up 1.15 percent, and 964.41 million liters of anhydrous ethanol, up 1.645 percent. Corn accounted for 268.41 million liters, or 12 percent, of production during the two-week period, up 55.61 percent when compared to the same period of last year.&nbsp;Total ethanol production since the beginning of the current harvest season reached 11.95 billion liters, up 5.96 percent, including 6.83 billion liters of hydrous ethanol, down 3.91 percent, and 5.12 billion liters of anhydrous ethanol, up 22.77 percent. Corn ethanol accounted for 1.7 billion liters of production, up 50.14 percent.&nbsp;Mills in the south-central region sold 1.15 billion liters of ethanol during the first half of July, down 7.38 percent when compared to the same period of last year. Sale included 595.46 million liters of hydrous ethanol, down 22.16 percent, and 549 million liters of anhydrous ethanol, up 16.57 percent.&nbsp;Total sales since the beginning of the current harvest season reached 8.21 billion liters, down 0.87 percent. Sales included 4.54 billion liters of hydrous ethanol, down 10.8 percent, and 3.67 billion liters of anhydrous ethanol, up 14.94 percent.&nbsp;
