The U.S. Energy Information Administration increased its forecast for 2026 fuel ethanol production in its latest Short-Term Energy Outlook, released Aug. 11. The outlook for 2026 fuel ethanol exports also increased.

Gevo Inc. on Aug. 6 announced it has cancelled plans to develop a SAF project in South Dakota. Rather, the company remains focused on its North Dakota operations, including plans to expand ethanol production capacity and develop a 30 MMgy SAF plant.
