On Jan. 30, the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association congratulated Doug Burgum on being confirmed as U.S. Secretary of the Interior. He will also chair President Donald Trump’s new National Energy Council.
Representatives of the U.S. biofuels and bioenergy industries are among more than 160 companies, trade groups, labor unions and policy organizations that are calling on federal lawmakers to maintain support for the 45Q tax credit.
Legislation introduced in the Kansas legislature on Jan. 15 aims to create a 5-cent-per-gallon tax credit to support the sale of higher ethanol blends, such as E15. Lawmakers are also being asked to consider a similar incentive for biobased diesel.
US. Fuel ethanol production fell by nearly 8% the week ending Jan. 24, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Jan. 29. Stocks of fuel ethanol were down nearly 1% and exports were up 6%.
A bill introduced in the North Dakota Senate aims to create a low-carbon fuels fund that would help the state’s ethanol producers lower the CI of the fuel they produce, increasing local demand for corn and helping producers access SAF markets.
