Leaders of the U.S. ethanol industry are seeking to intervene in a legal challenge of the ReFuelEU Aviation Regulation, which effectively bans the use of renewable, crop-based biofuels like corn ethanol as a feedstock for SAF.
The U.S. Grains Council’s Southeast Asia and Oceania team recently participated in two leading bioenergy conferences in the region, underscoring the pertinent role ethanol can play in emerging new-use areas for transportation decarbonization.
The U.S. exported 159.31 million gallons of ethanol and 1.06 million metric tons of distillers grains in March, according to data released by the USDA on May 2. Exports of both products were up when compared to both the previous month and March 2023.
Brazil’s 2024-’25 sugarcane harvest season kicked off on April 1. UNICA, the country’s sugarcane industry association, said sugarcane processing and ethanol production were both up during the first two-weeks of the harvest season.
