Oswego County, New York, on June 6 announced the former Attis Ethanol plant and grain malting operation will be sold via an auction conducted by Collar City Auctions Realty &amp; Management Inc. Bidding is set to begin June 17 and close July 12.The 100 MMgy corn ethanol facility, located in Fulton, New York, is currently idle.&nbsp;The facility was developed by Northeast Biofuels LLC at the site of a former Miller Brewing Co. brewery, which was vacant from 1994 through 2007. Northeast Biofuels announced plans to develop a fuel ethanol plant at the site<a href="https://ethanolproducer.com/articles/former-brewery-being-converted-to-produce-fuel-ethanol-2313"> in 2006</a>. The plant initially commenced production in August 2008 but ceased operations soon after when Northeast Biofuels filed for bankruptcy in January 2009. The facility <a href="https://ethanolproducer.com/articles/northeast-biofuels-expects-startup-in-2010-6141">was sold via auction to oil refiner Sunoco Inc.</a> later that year. Sunoco invested more than $20 million in the facility to improve its processes and technologies. The facility, which was rebranded as Sunoco Fulton Ethanol, <a href="https://ethanolproducer.com/articles/oil-company-restarts-ny-ethanol-plant-6866">resumed operations in mid-2010</a>. Attis Industries Inc. <a href="https://ethanolproducer.com/articles/attis-acquires-new-york-ethanol-plant-from-sunoco-16253">purchased the plant from Sunoco in 2019</a> and announced plans to produce cellulosic fuels at the site.&nbsp;Attis failed to successfully operate the plant. The site was later impacted by a slow-burning silo fire that persisted for months. The <a href="https://ethanolproducer.com/articles/similarity-sells-19996">county eventually took possession of the site</a>. &nbsp;The 135-acre property is being sold in “as is” condition. In addition to the ethanol plant, the property includes a railyard, silos and a malting operation.
