As we approach the New Year, I thought it would be interesting to see what news stories have been most read in 2014. Looking at the number of &ldquo;views&rdquo; is something my colleague, Sue Retka Schill, and I like to do occasionally. It gives us insight into what our readers are most interested in. &nbsp;
This year, the story with the most views was, <a href="http://www.ethanolproducer.com/articles/11529/tolman-reminisces-on-ethanols-impact-on-corn-farming" target="_blank">&ldquo;Tolman reminisces on ethanol's impact on corn farming.&rdquo;</a>&nbsp;After 14 years as CEO of the National Corn Growers Association, where he did a lot of good work on ethanol-related issues, it makes sense that Tolman&rsquo;s final words as CEO would draw attention. That story had nearly 40,000 views. In comparison, other stories at Ethanol Producer Magazine&rsquo;s website are typically viewed between a couple thousand and 10,000 times.
No. 2 on the list is a close second. In November, our news editor, Erin Voegele, wrote about ethanol production in Brazil. <a href="http://www.ethanolproducer.com/articles/11688/unica-reports-continued-prioritization-of-ethanol-production" target="_blank">&ldquo;UNICA reports continued prioritization of ethanol production&rdquo;</a> was viewed 31,690 times. Clearly what&rsquo;s happening in Brazil is of interest to our readers.
Next comes a story based on ethanol production numbers. <a href="http://www.ethanolproducer.com/articles/11729/eia-new-ethanol-production-records-set-2015-forecast-increased" target="_blank">&ldquo;EIA: New ethanol production records set, 2015 forecast increased&rdquo;</a> received a still respectable nearly 15,000 views. The story was posted on Dec. 9, based on a weekly record high for the week ending Nov. 21 and average ethanol production for the month of November.

2014 has definitely been an interesting year, &nbsp;with some very good things happening in the ethanol industry. I&rsquo;m looking forward to reporting on what happens in 2015!&nbsp;

A story reflecting on Rick Tolman's 14 years with NCGA was the most-read news story at Ethanol Producer Magazine's website. Other articles with high numbers of views included information about Brazilian and U.S. ethanol production levels.
