U.S. fuel ethanol production was up more than 3% the week ending Oct. 4, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Oct. 9. Ethanol stocks were down nearly 6% and exports were up 38%.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration increased its forecast for 2025 fuel ethanol production in its latest Short-Term Energy Outlook, released Oct. 8. The outlook for 2024 ethanol production was maintained.
Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig announced that the Iowa Renewable Fuels Infrastructure Program Board has approved 126 project applications from Iowa gas stations for new and expanded E15, E85, and biodiesel infrastructure projects.
Increasing the ethanol industry’s market by decreasing the biofuel’s carbon intensity score was a major theme at the 2024 ACE conference as key industry players spoke to the industry's challenges and opportunities.
The U.S. exported 141.19 million gallons of ethanol and 1.12 million metric tons of distillers grains during August, according to data released by the USDA on Oct. 8. Exports of both products were up when compared to the previous year.
