UNICA, the Brazilian sugarcane industry association, has announced ethanol production by mills in the south-central region of Brazil was up significantly during the second half of September. Ethanol sales were also up for the full month.Mills in the south-central region of Brazil processed 44.478 million metric tons of sugarcane during the second half of September, up 77 percent when compared to the same period of last year. Total sugarcane process since the beginning of the current harvest season, which began April 1, reached 493 million metric tons, up 14.24 percent when compared to the same period of the previous harvest season.&nbsp;Ethanol production for the second half of September reached 2.22 billion liters (586.46 million gallons), up 55.38 percent when compared to the same period of 2022. Production included 1.38 billion liters of hydrous ethanol, up 88.69 percent, and 833.11 million liters of anhydrous ethanol, up 20.07 percent. Corn ethanol accounted for 11 percent, or 238.8 million liters, of production, up 38.29 percent when compared to the same period of last year.&nbsp;Total ethanol production since the start of the current harvest season reached 23.43 billion liters, up 8.83 percent, including 13.81 billion liters of hydrous ethanol, up 6.56 percent, and 9.62 billion liters of anhydrous ethanol, up 12.26 percent. Corn ethanol accounted for 2.99 billion liters of production, up 44.21 percent when compared to the same period of last year.&nbsp;Mills in the south-central region sold 2.76 billion liters of ethanol in September, up 3.15 percent when compared to the same month of 2022. Sales included 1.76 billion liters of hydrous ethanol, up 14.64 percent, and 1 billion liters of anhydrous ethanol, down 12.22 percent.&nbsp;Domestic sales of hydrous ethanol reached 1.65 billion liters, up 18.45 percent when compared to September 2022, while domestic sales of anhydrous ethanol were at 927.25 million liters, down 0.84 percent.&nbsp;Total ethanol sales since the beginning of the current harvest season reached 15.33 billion liters, up 2.73 percent. Sales includes 8.84 billion liters of hydrous ethanol, up 0.51 percent, and 6.49 billion liters of anhydrous ethanol, up 5.91 percent.&nbsp;&nbsp;
