The U.S. Energy Information Administration increased its forecast for 2026 fuel ethanol production and fuel ethanol blending in its latest Short-Term Energy Outlook, released July 8. The outlook for exports was unchanged.
U.S. fuel ethanol production was up nearly 1% the week ending July 4, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on July 9. Stocks of fuel ethanol were down 1% and exports were down 8%.
UNICA, the Brazilian sugarcane industry association, has announced the sugarcane harvest was negatively impacted by rains during the first half of June. Total ethanol production was down, but corn ethanol production continued to grow.
U.S. fuel ethanol capacity fell slightly in April, while biodiesel and renewable diesel capacity held steady, according to data released by the U.S. EIA on June 30. Feedstock consumption was down when compared to the previous month.
The California Senate Committee on Transportation on July 2 voted unanimously to advance a bill that aims to immediately authorize the use of E15 within California until state agencies complete the required evaluation process for the fuel blend.
