The U.S. Department of Energy on May 30 released an updated version of its 45ZCF-GREET modeling tool to account for new feedstocks and methods of production, including ethanol from corn wet-milling and natural gas from coal-mine methane.
Xylogenics Inc. has announced the issuance of a U.S. patent for a yeast strain that exhibits an enhanced ability to co-ferment maltose and glucose, a breakthrough in commercial fuel ethanol production.
U.S. fuel ethanol production was up 2% the week ending May 23, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on May 29. Weekly ending stocks of fuel ethanol were down 3% and exports were down 30%.
