Job Description
1. Learn and become familiar with all processes associated with the plant.
2. Learn and be able to operate DCS (Computer Control System) for the plant.
3. Learn startup, maintenance and shut down procedures for all physical plant units and utility systems.
4. Responsible for operational and maintenance requirements of the physical plant equipment and utilities including but not limited to: water supply, T.O./ boiler, dryer system, reverse osmosis, and other associated equipment.
5. Responsible for water chemistry and the maintenance of water supply to the plant, boiler, cooling tower, reverse osmosis.
6. Responsible for maintenance tasks as needed or assigned by the management staff or his designee.
7. Ability to manage multiple complicated priorities/tasks.
8. 1st class B license or greater required to operate; we also offer the option to train individuals with a MN 2nd class B engineer license.
9. Perform additional duties as requested.
10. Keep timely and accurate logs relevant to duties performed.
11. Respond to collected data and make adjustments to optimize the equipment for which the boiler operator is responsible.
12. Keep plant facilities clean.
13. Responsible for notifying Supervisors of any equipment problems.
14. Complete any and all tasks assigned by your Supervisor.
15. Safe work practices are a condition of employment. Report any safety issues or problems to your Supervisor and Safety Coordinator immediately.
16. Promote Granite Falls Energy, LLC in the community.
17. Maintain a team environment with all other plant employees
Job Requirements
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Must be able to manage confined space entry, climb ladders and steps and lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Exposure to heat, cold and high noise levels. Continuous operation requires rotating shift work. Qualified individuals will work at heights, be able to adapt to 12-hour workdays, and be able to meet call-in requirements as needed. Elevated work required.
Education/Language Ability:
Individual must possess, at minimum a valid Minnesota first class B engineers license to operate. License needs to be in good standing with the state of Minnesota. Candidate must also be able to add, subtract, multiply, divide numbers, have strong judgment and decision-making skills with great attention to detail. Individual must be able to work with fractions, metric system, percentages, and decimals. Individual must be able to read, write, and comprehend the English Language.
