Job Description
Assist the director of global ethanol market development and D.C.-based ethanol team in developing and implementing an effective strategy for U.S. corn-based ethanol opportunities across the Council’s international offices. Provide activity planning, coordination, implementation and relationship mapping for ethanol engagement efforts. Enable the Council to promote U.S. feed grain-based ethanol as a sustainable fuel within international transportation sectors through stakeholder spheres of influence and additional applications as part of the global climate movement. Further promote and increase Council’s key messages within multilateral organizations, local ethanol industries, country governments, global thinktanks/institutions and private transportation supply chain entities.
Responsibilities:
1. Represent Council in various, extensive domestic and international meetings to promote ethanol to multilateral organizations, governmental bodies and private commercial industry.
2. Provide analysis on policy changes, engagement opportunities, activity results and commercial developments in key sectors of interest and disseminate to program partners and Council’s overseas offices.
3. Provide information and analysis on current developments on transportation, energy, and renewable fuels policy, industry, and production sectors across the multilateral sphere of influence.
4. Attend scientific and industry conferences that intersect with the Council’s ethanol objectives.
5. Manage and implement approved ethanol export development projects in compliance with USDA program regulations and policies.
6. Identify and recruit U.S. and non-U.S. consultants for foreign assignments in consultation with program partners. This includes completing all necessary arrangements to ensure that the objectives of consultant travel are met.
7. Manage and oversee the Council’s extensive contractor rolodex for technical, environmental and economic aspects of ethanol development and strategically place and assign with a goal to successfully execute the Council’s international ethanol programs and objectives.
8. Manage all aspects of preparation for foreign ethanol delegations traveling to and within the United States, including travel logistics, meeting itineraries and preparation of briefing materials.
9. Assist and direct ethanol team’s yearly UES submission document and coordinate submission strategy with internal departments.
10. Direct and manage the ethanol’s team yearly contracts and terms with domestic and international vendors and coordinate educational training and updates as appropriate.
11. Coordinate consultant and team preparation with appropriate program partners and maintain records of all ethanol market development programs and projects.
12. As necessary, travel domestically and internationally with teams and consultants engaged in the Council’s foreign ethanol market development programs.
13. Assist in membership servicing, including responding to informational requests from Council and program partner members.
14. Work to implement a parallel strategy to increase the global consumption of ethanol for other additional uses such as sustainable aviation fuel, maritime, bioplastics and industrial applications.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Education and Experience Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree in agricultural economics, energy economics, business, or marketing preferred.
2. Experience or understanding of ethanol industry is required.
3. Experience in policy development strongly preferred.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
1. Demonstrated expertise in managing multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines in a highly dynamic environment.
2. Ability to prioritize; see what needs to be done, accurately assess degree of urgency and importance, and translate into results.
3. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
4. Strong team and collaboration skills.
5. Technically proficient with Microsoft Office suite including spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software.
6. Well versed in the use of analytical software related to ethanol, including GATS, GTIS, SGS, S&P and various IHS analyses and databases (macroeconomic, consumer market data and MTBE/ETBE data), a plus. Also, ability to conduct basic analysis of this data and write up results for internal and external publication, a plus.

This position is responsible for providing support to the director of global ethanol market development and the ethanol team in developing and implementing global corn-based ethanol opportunities. This position will plan, coordinate and implement ethanol engagement efforts. Desired Qualifications:
Minimum requirement is a bachelor’s degree with preference given to those with a degree in an agriculturally related field and/or economics, business or marketing. Prior experience working in or understanding of the ethanol industry is required. Demonstrated experience in policy development is strongly preferred. Experience with international market development and work in a multicultural environment is preferred. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
