Danisco vs. Novozymes patent infringement case will go to court


A U.S. District judge ruled that Danisco A/S didn't prove that a Novozymes patent is invalid, meaning the case will go to trial in October. Novozymes filed the patent-infringement lawsuit against Danisco in May regarding an alpha-amylase enzyme.

Construction starts at Ineos Bio JV's commercial cellulosic plant


Ineos Bio JV got the gold shovels out Feb. 9 and broke ground at its facility that will produce 8 MMgy of cellulosic ethanol and six megawatts of electricity. The Indian River BioEnergy Center will use a gasification fermentation approach.

EPA: Draft bill to stop GHG regulations would jeopardize RFS


In her testimony before a House energy and power subcommittee, EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson said a bill to stop EPA's enforcement of greenhouse gas regulations would prohibit the EPA from taking further actions to implement the RFS.

After 20 years of unsuccessful attempts to build an ethanol plant in Great Falls, Mont., Montana Ethanol Holdings LLC is one step closer to making the proposed plant a reality. The company has applied for the U.S. DOE loan guarantee program.
