The Andersons to purchase Amaizing Energy plant in Denison, Iowa The Andersons Inc. has entered into an agreement to purchase the 55 MMgy Amaizing Energy Denison LLC plant in Denison, Iowa, along with an adjacent 2.7 million bushel grain terminal. Maria Cantwell and Dick Lugar recently attached the Open Fuel Standard as an amendment to Senate bill 1813, a transportation bill, which, if passed, would reauthorize federal aid highway and highway safety construction programs. ND ethanol-blended fuel sales nearly double in 2011 The sale of ethanol-blended fuel in North Dakota nearly doubled from 2010 to 2011. According to the North Dakota Tax Department, more than 1.3 million gallons were sold in 2011. READ MORE SHARE
'Mini-cellulose' discovery may maximize thermochemical processes A team of chemical engineers at UMass Amherst coined the discovery the "mini-cellulose" molecule, and it reveals for the first time the chemical reactions that take place in wood or prairie grasses during high-temperature conversion into biofuels. EPA suggests maintaining GHG emissions thresholds The U.S. EPA has issued its proposal for the third leg of its greenhouse gas Tailoring Rule, suggesting that emissions thresholds should remain at their current levels rather than expand to include smaller sources of GHG emissions. READ MORE SHARE
