CARD report: Ethanol reduced gas prices by more than $1 in 2011


A new report shows that increasing ethanol production and higher crude oil prices had a substantial impact on wholesale gasoline prices. As a result, ethanol reduced the price of wholesale gasoline by 89 cents in 2010 and $1.09 in 2011.

March numbers for U.S. exports of ethanol and distillers grains are up. On the ethanol side, there was a total of 83.4 million gallons of denatured and undenatured, nonbeverage ethanol exports in March, up 11 percent from February.
